Go Digital in China
China is a highly digitized society. Cash is rarely used, and Western apps like WhatsApp or Google Maps are restricted. Preparation is key to a smooth sourcing trip.
Must-Have Apps
- WeChat (Weixin): The absolute necessity. You will use it to communicate with suppliers, send files, and make payments.
- Alipay (Zhifubao): You can now link your international Visa/Mastercard to Alipay to pay for meals, taxis, and small market purchases.
- Baidu Translate / Google Translate: Ensure you download the offline Chinese-English language packs.
- A reliable VPN: Install this before leaving Malawi so you can access your email and international social media while in China.
